mini soccer

We are currently the home of nearly 100 mini-soccer teams from across the Northumberland region, with both boys and girls participating every weekend.

The Northumberland mini-soccer league was formed in 1999 with a small number of teams playing in a school sports hall in Seaton Delavel.

Over the last 10 years it has now been developed into one of the biggest mini soccer leagues in the country with over 163 teams playing every week, catering for boys & girls from the ages of 7 to 10.

In the 2009/2010 season the league, courtesy of the Football Association, became one of the first mini leagues to receive the Charter Standard Award for football leagues.

The girls league was formed in 2004 with approximately 19 teams.

Following its success and the amount of interest generated from the first development season, the league was restructured as an affiliated league in 2005 and called The Northumberland Girls League.

Whilst the league does have a very competitive edge to it and formal divisional winners and runners-up, we place a lot of emphasis on participation and development.

There were over 60 teams taking part in 2006/07 and each successive season has seen the number of teams taking part increase. In the 2009/10 season we had 63 teams.

The league is striving for Charter Standard by 2012.
